UTSMS Dhaka Division All Location & Quick Info 2025

UTSMS Across the Country All Location & Quick Info 2025

UTSMS stands for Under The Sky Mojar School, a non-formal, open-air education program by Mojar School aimed at reaching street children where they live—on footpaths, stations, parks, and slums.

Anyone with a heart to serve, the patience to engage with underprivileged children, and a mindset for social change can volunteer. No prior experience is required.

Volunteers assist in teaching basic literacy and numeracy, distributing food, managing class activities, and building emotional connections with children through games and storytelling.

Currently, UTSMS operates at 6 points in Dhaka and multiple divisional points across Bangladesh. Locations include parks, railway stations, footpaths, and slum areas.

Regular volunteers are expected to contribute 100 hours per session, usually spread over 3–4 months. However, short-term opportunities are also available during festivals or special events.

Our approach focuses on holistic development, blending physical, educational, and creative activities. Here’s the breakdown of each class session:

  1. 0 – 20 Minutes: Physical Exercises
Warm-up activities to encourage physical health, teamwork, and energy.
  2. 20 – 40 Minutes: National Anthem
Singing the national anthem together instills patriotism and a sense of unity.
  3. 40 – 60 Minutes: Bonding Time
Open discussions to build strong bonds between volunteers and children, fostering trust and companionship.
  4. 60 – 90 Minutes: Basic Reading and Writing
Following a non-formal education approach aligned with the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB), this segment covers essential reading and writing skills.
  5. 90 – 110 Minutes: “Color Your Dream” Session
This creative activity lets children express their aspirations through art, helping them envision their dreams.

110 – 120 Minutes: Food Distribution & Wrap-Up
Each session concludes with food distribution, ensuring children receive necessary nourishment before they leave.

Recruitment is divided into four structured stages:

1.1 Application Process

  • Interested individuals must apply through the Mojar School website or the official Google form managed by HQ.
  • Once the application is received, HQ coordinates a 3-hour Volunteer Orientation Session for selected applicants.
  • At the end of the orientation, participants receive a Volunteer Certification, valid until the last month of the current year.

1.2 Joining a Team

  • Certified volunteers are eligible to join any UTSMS Operational Point.
  • Volunteers are encouraged to join the point nearest to their current residence, educational institution, or workplace to minimize travel stress.
  • Personal transport owners can choose any location based on their preference.
  • Volunteers who must travel long distances (e.g., via bus) are discouraged due to safety and sustainability concerns.

1.3 Volunteer Commitment

  • Volunteers are required to dedicate 3 hours weekly to their selected operational point.
  • They must arrive 30 minutes before class starts to help with setup and remain after class for the traditional “T-Adda” bonding session with fellow volunteers.

1.4 Certification and Communication

  • After receiving their certification, volunteers will be provided with their point coordinator’s official contact details to facilitate communication.
  • Coordinators will assign volunteers to teams based on the point’s needs and the volunteer’s preferences.
