Position Title: Child Protection Officer

Job Context

The Child Protection Officer will be responsible for ensuring the protection and welfare of children who are at risk of abuse, neglect, or exploitation. They will provide support to children and their families, work with community organizations and government agencies, and implement child protection policies and procedures. The Child Protection Officer will collaborate with other professionals such as social workers, police officers, and healthcare providers to investigate cases of child abuse or neglect and to provide the necessary services and support to the children and their families.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor child protection policies and procedures in accordance with national and international standards.
  • Provide support and guidance to children and their families who are at risk of abuse, neglect or exploitation.
  • Work with community organizations, government agencies and other stakeholders to identify and address child protection issues.
  • Conduct assessments and investigations to identify child abuse, neglect or exploitation cases and develop appropriate interventions.
  • Work closely with other professionals such as social workers, police officers, and healthcare providers to ensure effective coordination of services.
  • Monitor the implementation of care plans and provide ongoing support to children and their families.
  • Provide training and capacity building to staff, partners, and communities to increase awareness and understanding of child protection issues.
  • Document and maintain accurate records of cases, interventions, and outcomes.
  • Provide regular reports to the Child Protection Manager on the status of child protection activities.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Child Protection Manager.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field.

At least 3 years of relevant work experience in child protection.

Knowledge of child protection policies and procedures, as well as relevant legislation and international standards.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Good report writing and documentation skills.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times.

Fluent in written and spoken English.

Computer literacy in Microsoft Office applications.

Ability to travel to field locations as required.

This position requires a high level of dedication, commitment, and sensitivity to the needs of children and their families. The Child Protection Officer must be able to work under pressure and prioritize competing demands while maintaining a professional and ethical approach.

 

Experience Requirements:

At least 3 years of relevant work experience in child protection.

 

Workplace:

  • Work at the office.
  • Frequent Visits may require.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Age 25 to 40 years
  • Both males and females are allowed to apply.

  • Demonstrated project management and knowledge of continuous improvement methods.
  • A frequent Field visit may require in Dhaka & outside Dhaka.
  • Basic managerial capacity to build and manage a team and to work with and without top-down supervision.
  • Expert in Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint, Internet Browsing, Data mining.
