Celebrating Joy, Energy, and Childhood: Mojar School Sports Festival – Season 7
মজার ইশকুল :: Mojar School-SPORT DAY 2025
On June 4, 2025, the sun rose over the Tejgaon Railway Station with laughter, excitement, and a whole lot of joy. Amid the rail-station business and passing trains, মজার ইশকুল :: Mojar School, organized Sports Festival – Season 7, a celebration dedicated to the street children we teach under our Under The Sky Mojar School (UTSMS) program.
It wasn’t just an event. It was a moment of belonging. A chance for children who usually live on the margins of society to feel seen, valued, and celebrated.
An Afternoon of Games, Giggles, and Glory
More than 25 street children participated in this beautiful gathering of Sports Festival. For many of them, it was the first time they were part of something that was for them. We hosted five thrilling games that brought out their energy, laughter, and teamwork:

Marble Race (Spoon & Marble)
In this game of focus and discipline, each child was given a spoon to hold in their mouth with a marble carefully placed on it. They had to race toward the finish line without dropping the marble. If it fell, they were disqualified. What made this game powerful was how it encouraged even the most restless children to slow down, control their movement, and stay patient. The top three finishers were not just fast — they were focused. The pride in their faces reflected the deeper lesson: sometimes, success comes not from speed but from self-control.

Word Realizing Puzzle
This game was designed to tickle their minds and challenge their instincts. A series of actions were narrated — like “birds fly,” to which they would flap their arms to act it out. But when something illogical like “cows fly” or “fish fly” was said, they had to stay still. If they acted out the incorrect sentence, they were out. This activity was a celebration of sharp thinking and listening. The winning children stood with eyes gleaming — proud of their intellect. It wasn’t just a game, it was a confidence builder, proving to them that their intelligence matters.

Ball Passing
Like the classic game of pillow passing, the children formed a circle and passed a ball to each other while a countdown was called out. When the countdown ended, the one holding the ball was eliminated. This game often tests emotions, as eliminations can bring frustration or disputes. But what we witnessed was touching — street children showing remarkable sportsmanship, patience, and emotional maturity. They accepted wins and losses with grace, laughing together, learning together. A subtle yet beautiful lesson in emotional intelligence and teamwork

Ball Throwing (Into Box)
A simple game with a strong message — aim and achieve. In this activity, the children tried to throw a ball into a box placed at a distance. It wasn’t just fun — it brought out their sense of precision, awareness, and personal challenge. Every child tried harder each time, becoming more focused on hitting the target. This game, in its own playful way, encouraged the idea of setting goals and striving to meet them — one throw at a time.

Jumping Race (ব্যাঙ লাফ)
Pure joy wrapped in playful competition — that was the essence of the jumping race, fondly called ব্যাঙ লাফ by the children. Pretending to be frogs, they bounced their way across the race line, laughing all the way. This was not about winning or losing, it was about giggling, expressing, and just being children. It brought out uninhibited fun — the kind street children often miss. Watching them hop like frogs with carefree laughter was a powerful reminder: childhood is meant to be happy.
In each game, three winners were recognized, making 15 children proud recipients of prizes. The delight in their eyes as they received their awards was priceless.
More Than Just a Sports Day
What made the event even more special was how the street children themselves helped organize the event: laying out materials, managing lines, cheering for one another. They weren’t just participants, they were leaders, teammates, and stars.
Even bystanders and local onlookers couldn’t help but join the cheer. Many clapped, some smiled quietly, and others shared kind words with the children. That rare moment of community unity was one we’ll never forget. After the events, each child was given a snack package, and the sense of fulfillment was visible on every face.
The Real Impact: Reclaiming Childhood
This event reminded us again why Mojar School exists. These children often grow up too fast, carrying burdens they shouldn’t. But on this day, they were allowed to just be kids. To run, to laugh, to compete, to win, and sometimes to lose; but always to feel they belonged.
One child, Roksana, whispered, “আপু, পরেরবার আমি আবার ফার্স্ট হবো,” and in that small sentence was a world of hope. She knew there would be a next time.
Gratitude to the Dreamers Behind the Day
This beautiful day came to life thanks to the swift coordination of our team and the visionary guidance of our Executive Director, Arian Arif. It was made possible through passion, preparation, and teamwork.
A special thanks goes to our team whose dedication and calm leadership made sure everything went smoothly. They managed everything with heart and efficiency.
What’s Next?
As Mojar School continues its journey toward building a Street Children Free Bangladesh, events like this remind us: the most powerful change begins with love, trust, and shared moments of joy. Let’s keep creating more moments like these together!
Behind every cheer is a dream waiting to unfold
