How 4 Dot (4.) Is Making the Greatest Impact: Freeing Street Children in Bangladesh

At Mojar School, we believe that every child on the street is a story waiting to be understood, not judged. To create a “Street Children Free Bangladesh,” we must connect the dots and understand every possible journey that leads a child to the streets. Here’s how we define the 4 Dots—and why they matter: Dot 1: A Child Living on the Street Children who live, sleep, and work on the streets for survival. These are the most visible cases, often without immediate access to food, education, or shelter. Dot 2: A Child from Nearby Slum Areas These children may still have guardians or family but live in extreme poverty. The risk of becoming a street child is high due to lack of support, abuse, or neglect. Dot 3: A Child from Villages or Districts They may have left home due to poverty, family conflict, or were even stolen or trafficked. Many lose their way or are sent to cities in search of a “better life.” Mojar School works to identify the root cause and establish schools or community links near their origin. Dot 4: A Child With No Identity or Lost Connection These children may have no guardians, don’t remember their address, or have been away from home for too long. Their background may be unclear, and they are often in the most vulnerable state.

Meet Shabnam Akter

Meet Shabnam Akter

Shabnam Akter, a 9-year-old girl from Maniknagar, Dhaka, struggled to access early education as her mother, a domestic worker, had no safe daycare options in the slum. The families her mother worked for disapproved of having her child around, making it difficult for her to sustain employment. "Under The Sky Mojar School" (UTSMS) became a turning point in Shabnam's life, offering free pre-primary education in an open, welcoming environment. With newfound hope, her mother now entrusts Shabnam to Mojar School, knowing she is safe and receiving an education that will help her transition into formal schooling.

Meet Belal Hossain

Meet Belal Hossain

Belal Hossain, a bright-eyed boy, had spent nine years growing up with Mojar School. Found wandering the streets of Dhaka as a toddler, he found a second home in the school’s warm embrace. Each morning, he eagerly joined his friends under the open sky, learning math, Bangla, and life’s lessons. He dreamed of becoming a teacher, inspired by those who had once lifted him up. Festivals at Mojar School were his favorite—colorful lights, music, and laughter filled his heart with joy. Over time, he became a mentor to younger students, guiding them just as he was once guided. His story spread, inspiring volunteers and donors alike. One day, he stood on a stage, receiving an award for excellence in studies. With teary eyes, he looked at his teachers, whispering, "Mojar School gave me wings to fly." Now, he was ready to chase his dreams.
