Know The beneficiary’s story
Rahima Begum, the mother of Sadia Akhtar, a class five student of Manpura Mojar School :: মজার ইশকুল, had a very struggling family life. She reared goats to fight poverty, but despite her best efforts, she could not save the goats when they suddenly fell ill. After that, her family’s financial situation was dire; Had to live on very little income. There was a lack of food, on top of that, Rahima Begum often needed medical expenses due to illness, which was also not being procured. Day by day, Rahima Begum was sinking deeper into poverty with little hope of any economic improvement. Rahima Begum felt that Sadia’s education was a luxury in such dire circumstances. In such a situation, realizing the risk of Sadia’s termination of education, Rahima Begum’s family came forward with the help of Mojar School.
Everything changed for Rahima Begum on June 4, 2021, when she received two goats under the OBBS scheme. Among them, Rahima Begum saw the face of improvement after the initial disaster as one of the goats got sick and died. She painstakingly reared the surviving goat which later numbered 12 goats, her hard work finally paid off. From here, she sold 2 goats and rent a little piece of land where she is cultivating paddy. Rahima Begum sold three more goats and set up a grocery store for her eldest son, creating a permanent source of income. Rahima Begum still has 7 goats and poverty is no longer part of her family’s life. She now dreams of selling her remaining goats and buying a cow and one day owning a cow farm.
